POKER PLAYERS SET TO SAY ‘NO SURRENDER’ IN UK’S BIGGEST CHARITY POKER TOURNAMENT
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a Poker player, then the No Surrender Charity Trust is on the lookout for you. On Friday 26th June we are attempting to set a new British record for the number of players in an online Charity Poker Event. With an expected prizepool of over £30,000 and a VIP trip of a lifetime to Las Vegas, worth over £10,000, records are not all that’s worth playing for!
Having teamed up with William Hill Poker, who are hosting this ground breaking online Poker event, the cancer charity hopes to attract over a 1000 players for the first No Surrender UK Poker Classic. This level of turnout will boost funds for the charity which provides an online cancer related social network and a Fellowship which researches into cures for pancreatic cancer.
No Surrender Charitable Trust
The trust was set up by Jason Boas in 2007 who, at only 33 was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has since raised an overwhelming £150,000. Despite his situation Jason succeeded in his vision and the No Surrender website continues to bring together young adults to support each other through the emotional distress and upheaval that a life threatening illness brings. A Fellowship in Jason's name researching cures for pancreatic cancer in partnership with University College Hospital London has also been setup.

“We are always looking for new ways to raise funds and keep within the spirit of the No Surrender Trust, which ultimately is to do it having fun!” said Marc Maley, Trustee of the charity. “Jason would have loved this event. As a city trader before he contracted pancreatic cancer, he was hugely competitive and loved synergy between the city and a game like Poker.
“It would be great to break the World Record for an online tournament, which stands at 35,000 players, took 9 hours to play out and more than 8,750 hit the money, but realistically, we’d settle for a tenth of that number and set a new British Record,” said Maley. “We expect to have some celebrity players and some well known pro’s who’ll have bounties on them for anyone who knocks them out.”

*The prize fund is based on securing a minimum of 500 players.
PAYOUT STRUCTURE
- 70% of the total prize fund collected will be withdrawn from the tournament as a donation to the charity www.nosurrender.org.
- 30% of the total prize fund collected will be paid back to the players as the total prizepool.
- William Hill Poker will add $1,000 to the online Poker tournament.
- 1st place is guaranteed the VIP trip to Las Vegas and a four night stay in the legendary Bellagio
Terms and condtions
- Players must travel between July – 1st December 2009
- Bellagio room + breakfast for 4 nights.
- Players cannot use the flights on the following blackout dates;
- Independence Day - Friday, July 3 and 4th, 2009
- Labor Day - Monday, September 7, 2009
- Columbus Day - Monday, October 12, 2009
- Veteran’s Day - Wednesday, November 11, 2009
- Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 26, 2009
